Unconditional Love You

According to the dictionary given to me by Holy Spirit, the following is the entry on Unconditional Love:

Unconditional Love is not merely loving another no matter what condition they are in or what the situation is, but truly loving unconditionally means choosing love-as-a-verb no matter OUR OWN CONDITION.

The following was my face when I received the above entry:  O_o;

So, this definition of Unconditional Love  is according to God nature, God character, God DNA (aka Divine Nature Awesome. Again, thank you DD). God isn’t some emo lover (even tho we can be) who fluctuates His love, kindness, hope and generosity. He’s pretty adamant and set upon restoring us to our dignity and loving loving loving.

And guess what? He’s given us His DNA! Which means He’s given us the ability, freedom and wisdom to choose love-as-verb no matter what our condition or situation. No matter how badly someone pisses us off, mistreats us, talks behind our back, sabotages us, hurts us, beats us up~that kind of stuff doesn’t dictate our identity as bad-ass lovers.

For this reason, I totally freaking disagree with those who might say that this unconditionally loving is harder said than done (smiley face please don’t stone me).

I mean, seriously–is it really that difficult to act according to our nature? To simply be who we are?

Ok ok…I suppose loving unconditionally WOULD be hard if…

1. we are operating without the revelation that we have been given the virtues and character of God, who is love constant and faithful and unwavering

2. we care more about status and reputation and other’s opinion of ourselves than we do about just being ourselves

3. we let our fears, insecurities and bitterness be bigger than our real God-gifted nature and character

4. we just don’t want to…

Hmm, let’s sit with #4 for a quick-like minute…

In “we just don’t want to” I want to highlight an incredibly important lil thing we covered in the last post: free will. Yet, remember that God reconciled even free will itself so it’s no longer imposed upon us to use our free will toward destructive means? we are free from that; essentially, we are free to choose love, holiness, life. so, to be real, excuse #4 for why it would be hard to love unconditionally is a stupid and moot point (smiley face don’t stone me please) and if you’re trying to offer that one up to get yourself out of unconditionally loving…here’s a firm slap-some-sense-into-you-and-grow-up-already kick in the arse (smiley face please don’t stone me thank you).

As for reasons #1-3…well, they don’t apply to you do they? 🙂

So, conclusion?

You are totally 100% incontrovertibly more than capable of loving unconditionally, or choosing love-as-verb no matter your condition. It’s, quite simply, who you are–because you have God’s DNA, His virtue, His character, His Life and Power coursing through your mind, body, soul, heart, will, emotions.

So for crying out loud just be who you are and love, it’s so much easier than frontin’ and  being all offended and bitter and stuff. Seriously, that taking offense and nitpicking flaws and temper-tantrum stuff is kinda just a waste of energy, resources, money and time.

We got bigger things to celebrate and feast on than to brawl over cookie crumbs (smiley face please love me unconditionally even if i pissed you off in this post).

So, real conclusion?

In the words of Jesus according the The Message translation (Matthew 5:43-48),

You’re familiar with the old written law, “Love your friend,” and its unwritten companion, “Hate your enemy.” I’m challenging that. I’m telling you to love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst. When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer, for then you are working out of your true selves, your God-created selves. This is what God does. He gives his best–the sun to warm and the rain to nourish–to everyone, regardless: the good and bad, the nice and nasty. If all you do is love the lovable, do you expect a bonus? Anybody can do that. If you simply say hello to those who greet you, do you expect a medal? Any run-of-the-mill sinner does that. In a word, what I’m saying is, Grow up. You’re kingdom subjects. Now live like it. Live out your God-created identity. Live generously and graciously toward others, the way God lives toward you.
